Drilling Technology I

Working offshore is, at time, demanding, and in an environment where safety and efficiency are of paramount importance. In order to fit into the dynamic organisation, it is important to know what to do, and not to do, and not to be at the wrong place at the wrong time. Making the wrong decisions often have an impact on the operation, both regarding safety but also financially and eventually causing loss of service contract and reputation.

This course gives a clear understanding of typical offshore installations, the nature of the daily operations, the organization behind it and how to work and perform in the offshore environment. It makes you a better and safer offshore worker.

Participants

The course is intended for individuals who are new to the oil industry, less experienced offshore worker and those going offshore for the first time and companies entering the oil industry, who is involved in drilling the well or production operation itself. The course is also intended for the support organization on land, in order to give a better understanding of the operation offshore, at time, in a harsh and demanding working environment.

Benefit

The course will give you unique knowledge and understanding about how oil is found, the operation, drilling rigs, equipment, well design and evaluation. This will allow you to plan and execute your work in a more structured and safe manner, giving you a more efficient working day. As you gain a good understanding of the operation, it will also allow you to blend into the culture onboard and establish yourself as a valuable team player, thus giving you a better performance evaluation.

The course will teach you about:

  • Where does oil come from and where is it found.
  • Different types of installation and equipment onboard.
  • Planning the operation.
  • Different phases off the operation.
  • Detailed daily operation, step by step.
  • Well design.
  • Well evaluation.
  • Completion and production.
  • Safety
  • Structure of the offshore organization.
  • Life on board.

Prior to each session, a questionnaire can be provided in order to adapt the session to suit the interest of the audience. Courses and presentations can be performed in either English or Danish, day or evening.

Course Pre-Qualification: None necessary.
