The After Action Review (AAR) Facilitator Training provides participants with the skills and knowledge needed to design and facilitate AARs that are efficient and effective. The focus is on avoiding common pitfalls while ensuring the capture of all relevant lessons learned, thereby leading to improved operations.
The course objectives are to equip participants with the skills necessary to plan all phases of the AAR, including identifying the most suitable type of AAR and process, gathering data and information to support the process, designing and planning the AAR with the appropriate tools, selecting the right setting, delivering the AAR smoothly and efficiently, avoiding common pitfalls, and closing out the process for efficient implementation of identified actions.
By the end of the course, participants will have a good understanding of the following topics:
- Types of AARs
- Designing the flow of the AAR
- Selection of tools and processes
- Setting up groups and data acquisition
- Processing data and identifying lessons learned
- Planning for contingencies
- Managing the dynamics of the AAR meeting
- Avoiding common pitfalls
- Venue setup and preparation
- Implementing identified actions and following up on progress
This training is intended for drilling and non-drilling professionals who are involved in the design, planning, or facilitation of AARs or Lessons Learned Meetings after an operation, campaign, or project.
There are no prerequisites for this course. All participants, regardless of their background, will have equal opportunities to learn and benefit from the training.
